For more circular plastic packaging
Did you know that reducing the weight of a package reduces CO2 emissions in transportation, or that using only one type of material in packaging reduces energy consumption and can facilitate the recycling process?
For reasons like these, rethinking packaging design, making it more efficient and sustainable within the concept of the circular economy, is a path that needs to advance by leaps and bounds.
To reinforce this innovative look at packaging design and with the intention of encouraging more and more circular options to reach the market, Braskem inaugurated, in São Paulo, the 1st Packaging Development Center for Circular Economy in Brazil.
The collaborative space called Cazoolo is an invitation for brands, industries, startups, universities, and designers to think together about the packaging design stage, based on Design for Environment (DfE) and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) concepts.
"We are focused on promoting relevant advances in the direction of the circular economy, but we know that we will not change reality alone. With Cazoolo, we want to build an ecosystem of engaged people and companies involved with new solutions that respond to the context of circularity", says Yuri Tomina, Cazoolo's leader.
Besides the collaborative development of packaging, the Cazoolo team is also available to support Braskem's clients who are developing new packaging applications and who have a vision directed towards the circular economy.
How does it work?
Professionals and companies of various sizes and sectors of the economy can collaborate on projects at Cazoolo. It is a shared space, with prototype infrastructure and workshop for the co-creation of new packaging and business solutions.
